Position Description: The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences offers an exciting opportunity for a Biostatistician/Statistician at the Arkansas Center for Birth Defects Research and Prevention. The successful candidate will assist in the design and analysis of research studies as well as in the presentation and publication of research findings.

This position requires independent decision- making with minimum supervision and frequent interaction with ACH and UAMS-based researchers. The individual will be required to participate in meetings regarding research projects, to schedule meetings with faculty researchers, and to communicate with researchers to complete projects in a timely manner.

   
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Masters of Science degree in Statistics or Biostatistics and 2 or more years experience in a clinical/biomedical research environment. Experience with computer databases such as Microsoft Access and statistical software packages (SAS, SPSS, or STATA) is required. Skills and competency in independently analyzing data, assessing results, presenting findings, and developing reports are also required.
   
Organization Description: The Arkansas Center was established in 1997 and is a collaborative effort of the faculty and personnel from the Arkansas Reproductive Health Monitoring System (ARHMS), University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and the Arkansas Department of Health. The Arkansas Center specializes in birth defects surveillance, research and prevention using ARHMS data to conduct sound epidemiologic studies. The Arkansas Center is one of eight research centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our mission is to reduce the prevalence of birth defects in Arkansas and to lessen the economic, social and psychological impact of birth defects at both state and national levels.
